Student Supplies

Supply lists for Photography Classes at Colorado Mountain College ~ Breckenridge Campus

All details concerning supplies will be discussed on the first night of class (so it's probably a good thing to not blow off the first night!).

Photography I • Basic Photography & Darkroom Techniques

instructor: Matt Lit


Students must absolutely have by the second class period:

  • working(!) 35 mm SLR camera (broken or non-functioning cameras are not acceptable!). Medium format is also just fine. This class details the working of the 35 mm single lens reflex (SLR) and a functioning camera is mandatory.

The following supplies can be ordered within the first week of class (we will discuss this in class to answer any questions):

  • (at least) 10-20 rolls black and white film (plus-x or trix or tmax 100, 400 or 3200)

  • photo paper (100 sheet pack)

  • negative sleeves

  • canned air for dust removal

  • sharpee markers (fat and skinny)

  • notebook (recommend D-ring or enclosed photo style)

  • lens cleaning tissue, fluid (and photo chamois - optional)


Photography II • Advanced Photography & Darkroom Techniques

instructor: London Scherzer

Your Photo II instructor will also talk with you about supply needs.

  • text (provided by instructor)

  • working(!) 35 mm camera, or whatever your preferred format is.

Because this class is all special techniques in the darkroom some of the supplies for these techniques will be provided. You will have the option of purchasing additional types of paper and chemistry on your own. This information will be covered in class.


Interpretive Portrait (The Documentary Approach to People Photography)

instructor: Matt Lit

You must have basic working technical knowledge of cameras, exposure & composition. It is highly preferred that you have succeeded in my Basic Photo class.

Absolutely must have at start of class:

  • working(!) 35 mm camera (broken or non-functioning cameras are not acceptable!) (or medium format if preferred)

  • text (provided by instructor)

  • If you choose to work in Black and white: (you must have proven darkroom experience and be willing to do lab work on own time!)

  • (at least) 10-20 rolls black and white film (trix or tmax 400 or 3200)

  • photo paper (100 sheet pack)

  • negative sleeves

  • canned air for dust removal

-or- Color (You should know how to work with color slide materials in regards to exposure, lighting, etc.)

  • slide film (daylight 100, 400, 800 +; optional - tungsten film for interior)

  • slide pages

We will discuss these choices on the first night of class. Be prepared to make a decision immediately!
